Things Not to Buy – The $80 Foot-Long Hot Dog
The minor-league Broxton Rox yesterday celebrated National Hot Dog Day by entering the Guinness Book of World Records for the most expensive hot dog ever.
The foot-long hot dog clocks in at $80.
They seem to have spared no effort in adding every ingredient they could think of. What they arrived at is a gastronomical nightmare and should probably come with health insurance attached.
According to a team press release, the Rox hot dog is a half-pound all-beef foot-long hot dog, deep fried and rolled in truffle oil, then coated with porcini dust, sprinkled with white truffle shavings, and topped with dollops of creme fraiche, caviar and fresh roe.
The dog will be served in a blini roll.
