Earlier, I wrote about the utter regressiveness of Herman Cain’s 9-9-9 tax plan. The plan, I said, seemed to be designed to enrich the already-rich and pauperize the poor and middle class.
The only saving grace, I added, was that he was as likely to win the Presidential election in 2012 as I am.
Herman Cain may bow out of the Republican presidential primary tomorrow, or he may hang in there until he records in the low digits in actual vote percentages (and then bows out).
However, he has now become completely irrelevant in the presidential primaries – a side show at best.
The millions of Americans who regularly vote against their own self-interest will therefore be spared the opportunity to vote for his abysmal 9-9-9 tax plan.
The 9% flat income tax, reduced corporate income tax and new sales tax would have had the dubious accomplishment of dramatically reducing overall taxes collected, while hammering the poor and middle class with a much greater tax burden.
Of course, large corporations would have made out like bandits, along with the very wealthy.
Instead of going the route of the many pundits who accused Cain of class warfare, my thought is simply that the poor man didn’t have clue about taxes…or Libya…or organization…or credibility.
Yes, I said it. Credibility. No, I don’t know the five women who accused him of sexual harassment, but here’s the way I look at it: one woman, perhaps you get the benefit of doubt; two, could be a conspiracy; three, perhaps a BIG conspiracy; four, hmmm, perhaps there’s a pattern here; five, game over.
To crown it all, his spokespeople have tacitly admitted that he did in fact have a 13-year affair with Ginger White, whose interview and story I found most credible – along her telephone records.
There is misunderstood, there’s straight-up lying, and there’s pathological lying. The pathological variety should give everyone the greatest concern.
To hear Cain tell it, he “didn’t do it”, “didn’t do any of it” and it is all an attempt at “character assassination”. These women apparetly, have little else to do but expose themselves to attacks and scrutiny of all their life mistakes.
I find his accusers credible, I find Herman Cain incredible. Some also think he will leave the race only when the crowds at the book signings thin out.
In any event, we should all be glad to see the back of the 9-9-9 tax plan and look forward to more serious conversations with credible presidential candidates. It’s about time.

I can’t believe people took him seriously. The man has no clue about foreign policy and his 999 plan would be terrible for retirees and the poor.
